Back to Skateboarding
Slowly I am scanning the 300 plus images I shot at the esplanade in San Francisco of the young skating enthusiasts and I am finding that I have more of them that I could post! The hour long I spent was worth sweating in the sun with a 10 pounds camera sitting on my palm! And this was my day 2 with the D200 and I was trying out the 80 - 400 f/5.6 VR with the 1.4x converter on. That is a massive 840 mm! This was a way long for the 300 feet stretch of skating arena and way too heavy to handhold.
The lens, as always works wonders on fast action! The colors are immaculate. I am shooting JPEGs for now and I do not retouch, except when I have to desaturate for a monochrome copy. The focus was extremely fast while the DoF was way too high as you could make out from the series of images I have posted so far.
