Oscar Reynolds plays at various festivals in and around San Francisco, as well as various international musical festivals. From his roots deeply impressed in Bolivian music, Oscar carries the core essence of his music through the panpipes, flute and the guitar.
 
Panpipes, also known as zampoña, and the flute, also known as the quena, are the core instruments of the Karumanta group that Oscar has formed. (Karumanta in Bolivian means “From far away”). Oscar plays the zampoña and the guitar at the same time.

When most people are trying to “settle” down, it was refreshing to meet Frankie and Couscous more than willing to “unsettle” themselves. Here is another image of the ehru player. As I had mentioned before, he preferred to  remain anonymous, and so I shall not be quoting his name. Very soon he got used to the camera angles and knew how to “look up” to the lens.

He did not want to be named, so I will go with the anonymous. He plays an oriental 2 stringed instrument called the Ehru. The Chinese have played and perfected this instrument from as early as 100 B.C.  Played much like the violin, the Ehru however has a unique construction. The sound-box used to be made of serpent skin in its original construction, which gave the instrument its distinctive color.
