While the corners are occupied by the creative few, San Francisco too has it’s share of poverty showing its face every now and then. That apart, out citizens have habit of wasting food – lots of it. I wrote about Chen Wei sometime back – he is one of the saxophone players who spends the evenings and after work hours playing at various corners of San Francisco.
 
 
 

 
 
Chen works at a restaurant during the day to keep the living. The evenings and night are mostly spent playing the saxophone. He does it mainly to keep the art alive in him and it also helps if people donate some money. But boy! you should see how he pours his heart and soul …

At 6 o’ clock, the Powell BART station is crowed with daily commuters, shoppers and tourists. This time in summer, the sun is fairly strong and people coming out of Bloomingdale’s have to take a moment to adjust to the warm air.

Gary Istafano, I think thats what he muttered when I sat down beside him to take a few pictures. It was almost dusk and I was winding up for the day when I happened to spot Gary sharing his worldly views with the tourists who stopped for a picture in front of China Town.
