Electric buses in New York City - MTA working for a greener city
As a national effort for cleaner environment New York City has been operating Hybrid Electric buses from 1998. And by the end of last year, 2007, the NYT fleet should have had about 550 hybrid electricity powered buses running in the city.

In November 2005, the California Transportation Energy Future Conference gave New York City Transit’s Department of Buses its Blue Sky Merit Award for contributions to clean air and energy efficiency, adding another feather to NYT’s cap. Read more about NYT’s effort for a cleaner environment here.
