New York City - honking drivers & the Yellow menace
New York City isn’t probably a place where out of city drivers would love to try their driving skills. Apart from pedestrians who really do not care for any traffic lights, there are the dreaded yellow cabs! Often called as “menace” of the streets, we may be putting the blame too hard on them.
As I stood in this Broadway junction in New York City, there were cars, with so called “decent” drivers, who did not hesitate to come a hair’s distance with pedestrians crossing the zebra line. When this driver did not get the right to pass, on a “Walk” signal, he did not lose a moment to show his disgust by honking repeatedly. You could see the anguish on the face of this gentleman who was ushering in his accompanying lady, but probably decided to be decent and kept mute.
