Nikon D300 battery issues reported (EN-EL3e)
Some of the Nikon D300 users have reported battery issues with their EN-EL3e battery. Even when fully charged, the battery seems to die out after a few frames. Nikon is looking into the problem, but they have given a temporary work around.
Here are the few alternatives to consider:
- To solve the issue immediately, RESET all settings on D300. Hold the QUAL & compensation buttons together for about 3 - 5 seconds. This will remove all your custom settings and will revert them back to the factory settings. This should resolve any internal electronic or software conflicts that are affecting the battery.
- Meanwhile, you should ensure that your battery is truly fully charged as specified in the user manual. Try a different charger or a battery to see if its a camera issue or a battery issue
- Normalize the battery temperature. You “freeze” the battery and then slowly allow it to come up to a room temperature. After that you charge the battery full one more time and then try it.
The RESET solution is provided by the Nikon Help desk. Their investigation might reveal that it is a one-off case of faulty battery. So if you have the same problem, do report it to Nikon.
