So what's worse than being poor? San Francisco street dweller

Once a celebrity commented that if she were to suffer, she’d rather be rich and suffer than being poor. So what is worse than being poor?

I had met someone before in downtown San Jose, who was apparently a street dweller, but claimed to be a “beggar by choice”. I do not quite understand. Some things come free with being a beggar – poverty, deprivation, hunger and  probably misery. So what would lead a person choose such a lifestyle. Later, I have met several such people, who all by choice have decided to stay on the streets. And, believe it or not, some are more learned and widely traveled than many of us!

I floated around with the idea for quite some time, until someone said “not having a dream”. I have seen how relationships change when two people have different financial abilities, how the favors and affinity change hands with money. So it’s no wonder that you cannot fight poverty with money alone. And if it be dreams, so be it!

So many factors why beggars or homeless end up in the cold concrete, busy street of San Francisco and i do believe that some has their own reason…not just because they stop dreaming…
Unless you hear their story then you will figure it out. It’s not a point blank “NO DREAM” some stories where untold (that’s my point of view) base on what i heard.
Most cases, its not easy for them to dream because they dont have a normal state of mind. Or reach their margin line. In short, Insanity Attack Disorder or depression. Which is rampant nowadays.
Years ago, a friend of mine open his home temporarily with this homeless guy during Winter and mentor the poor man,. Guess what? The time comes, he’s ready to face the World again, getting a job. My friend help him out with his resume and GUESS WHAT? He got a four years degree. Last time i saw this poor man, he’s wearing his suit and tie. CANT BELIEVE MYSELF EITHER THAT HE USED TO SLEEP IN THE BART STATION!Thank Goodness, someone reach out….Help him to get his dream back….
